Week 10 Reflection: Power of Music

Introduction
In this week's enlightening lecture, we were graced by the presence of Mr. Tamim, a distinguished lecturer from the faculty of creative multimedia at Multimedia University in Malaysia. The focus of the session was on the post-Covid-19 landscape and its profound impact on students' learning experiences.

Class Unfold
Mr. Tamim presented stark statistics, revealing the challenges students faced in the wake of the pandemic. A notable 54% reported difficulties in memorization, 67% struggled with focus, 56% found it challenging to adapt to the new learning environment, and a staggering 90% perceived studying during the pandemic as more arduous compared to the pre-pandemic era (Aftab et al., 2021). Amidst this struggle, the potential of music emerged as a beacon of support for student well-being and academic performance.

The revelation about the difficulties students faced post-pandemic resonated deeply, underscoring the collective struggle to adapt to the new normal of learning. Mr. Tamim's insights opened a gateway to a potential solution: the therapeutic power of music.

Personalize
As I absorbed the information, I couldn't help but reflect on my own experiences during these unprecedented times. The challenges outlined mirrored my own, making the quest for effective coping mechanisms all the more personal.

Relating
The emphasis on music as a tool to enhance focus and create an engaging study environment struck a chord. It connected with my own occasional use of carefully chosen background music to drown out distractions and delve deeper into my studies.

Reasoning
The rationale behind the impact of music on cognitive functions, as elucidated by Mr. Tamim and supported by existing research (Hogenes, 2014), became clear. Music's multifaceted influence on the brain, from improving focus to regulating mood, provided a compelling case for its integration into the study routine.
