Week Seven Reflection

Week 7 Reflection: Unveiling the Art of Digital Storytelling

Introduction
After a study break hiatus, I re-entered the academic arena with renewed vigour, navigating through the week's lessons with eager anticipation for fresh insights. With both Wednesday sessions consolidated due to a holiday on Monday, Dr Lina initiated the week by outlining our assignments, setting the stage for a deep dive into the world of digital storytelling.

Class Unfold
In the extended three-hour session, conducted early in the morning, Dr. Lina, our guide through this narrative exploration, introduced the intricate elements of storytelling: the challenge plot, creativity plot, connection plot, and the conversation plot. To enhance our understanding, snippets of her storytelling video illuminated the fundamental concepts of this ancient art in the digital age.

Respond
Despite the extended duration and early start, the class was an engaging and enriching experience. A collective storytelling activity injected a dose of fun, weaving individual sentences into a collaborative narrative tapestry.

Personalize
This class struck a chord with my fondness for creative writing, evoking memories of my past experiences in crafting narratives. Dr. Lina's advice on spontaneity and interactivity resonated, reminiscent of my own approach to storytelling.

Relating
The teaching approach mirrored an inductive method, fostering student-centred learning and emphasizing metacognition. Research-backed insights into the efficacy of digital storytelling in education brought to mind the evolving landscape of modern teaching methodologies (Smart et al., 2012).

Reasoning
Digital storytelling, as explored during the 'showing but not telling' activity, emerged as a potent educational tool. Its integration into classroom activities aligns with current pedagogical trends, promoting active learning and technological literacy (Smeda et al., 2014).

Reconstruction
Week 7 not only demystified the art of digital storytelling but also highlighted its significance in modern education. The strategic use of technology and narrative techniques can elevate both teaching and learning experiences.

Conclusion
As I reflect on this week's exploration of digital storytelling, it becomes clear that mastering this art is not just a skill but a forward-looking approach for any educator. The fusion of technology and storytelling is a beacon guiding the way toward a more engaging and effective educational future.
